The Volunteer Fire Department of the City of Nittenau has now become a traditional participant in the city's summer holidays program. This was evident once again last Thursday when children between the ages of six and twelve had the opportunity to get to know the fire department through a day of exploration, games, and fun.
At various stations, such as the pump house and making emergency calls, the children demonstrated their skills. They also had a chance to learn about the firefighting gear during a sort of "fashion show." One particular highlight was a controlled grease fire, which was not only impressive but also served to educate the children about the dangers associated with fires.
After all the excitement and effort, the participants deserved a well-earned treat. Homemade fire department pizza hit the spot perfectly. Once again, a fantastic summer program has come to a close, and we are already looking forward to next year.
