Monthly statistics for January 2025

Deployment, Training and Teamwork: A Challenging January.

From the Operations:

The Volunteer Fire Department of the City of Nittenau was alerted to a total of eight incidents in January.
At the beginning of the month, a flooded basement had to be pumped out. This was followed by several aerial ladder rescues and apartment openings for the emergency medical service—mostly at the same address.
On January 25, a garden hut with an integrated sauna caught fire in the Hof am Regen area. Together with the Volunteer Fire Department of Hof am Regen, we extinguished the burning hut. Later in the operation, the tank fire engine from the Volunteer Fire Department Bruck i. d. Opf. was called in to ensure a sufficient water supply.
To prevent the fire from reigniting and to facilitate extinguishing, the garden hut—completely destroyed by the fire—was dismantled by the Technical Relief Organization (THW) Schwandorf.

Our First Responder unit provided professional assistance in 40 emergency cases.

From the "Everyday Life of the Fire Department":

To always be ready for deployment and well-trained, several interesting training topics were already on our schedule at the beginning of the year.
Eight firefighters had the opportunity to practice entering a burning room under breathing protection during a virtual nozzle training. Valuable experiences were gained in the virtual world, which aim to make our real-life operations safer.
For the topic of pediatric resuscitation, we brought in two dedicated pediatricians from the University Hospital Regensburg. Together, we practiced the resuscitation of (young) children according to the latest guidelines.
At the end of the month, the Passauer Wolf Rehabilitation Clinic Nittenau and the elevator manufacturer Schmitt and Sohn enabled us to conduct practical training on rescuing people from elevators.
However, training can also be fun: we organized a technical rescue drill as a skills course to combine learning and enjoyment.
